Medical Assistance with Smoking and Tobacco Use Cessation: Discussing Cessation Medications (MSC, CMS Adult Core Set)

A rolling average represents the percentage of Medicaid members age 18 and older who are current smokers or tobacco users and who received medical assistance with smoking and tobacco use cessation during the measurement year. The survey results are collected annually as part of the Adult CAHPS Health Plan Survey 5.1H using a rolling average methodology. These measures assess the medical assistance with smoking and tobacco use cessation and report them as rolling average of:

  • Discussing Cessation Medications—A rolling average represents the percentage of Medicaid members age 18 and older who are current smokers or tobacco users and who discussed or were recommended cessation medications during the measurement year
